The CDRs Won't Last

A CD-R, a compact disc you can burn your own music onto, was expected to have a 10 year lifespan before degrading and becoming unplayable. This wasn't obvious to the DIY music acts of the early 2000s, who used the format of the CD-R to burn their music at home and distribute it at gigs and in the post. Using this cheap, but ultimately short-lived medium means that much of this music is now lost, or exists in obscure corners of the internet. In this radio show, the band Dog Chocolate look through some of the CD-Rs in our collections and try to find some that still work, to play songs from. Every four Fridays at 15:00.
